Gwangyang International Maehwa Festival (Plum blossoms Festival)
Distinct from Cherry blossom, Maehwa(Plum blossom) is one of the first blossoms to commence the spring of the year. It usually starts flowering between late winter and early spring offering a gorgeous view of white and pink flowers in harmony. Gwangyang International Maehwa Festival takes place in Seomjin Village, home of the largest number of plum blossom trees in Korea. During the festival period, visitors can enjoy a walk beneath the blooming of plum blossoms, and also sample and purchase local organic plum products.
Sansuyu Village in Gurye (Gurye Sansuyu Festival)
Sansuyu Village is like a messenger of spring, with its beautiful yellow sansuyu flower (cornus) in full bloom, and springtime picnickers coming in droves to Jirisan Mountain to capture this beautiful moment. Feel at ease walking along the road as you enjoy stone walls adorned with flowers before a backdrop of unique, soothing rural landscapes. All through the villages, visitors can sit on rocks beside the stream, enjoying the sight of sansuyu flowers floating on the water that flows from deep within the valleys of Jirisan Mountain.
